Jerry McClurkin

Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Veteran MSGT Jerry McClurkin Sr.
Jerry was born on March 16, 1952, to the late Virgil Sr. and Flora Mae McClurkin in Anniston Alabama. He went to be with our Lord and savior on October 19, 2025.
Jerry graduated Cobb High School in 1970 in Anniston, Alabama and then went on to pursue some college courses at the University of Alabama, without finishing college Jerry decided to join the United States Army in 1971 where he quickly made rank and decided to make the military a career. The military took Jerry to Louisiana, Missouri, Illinois, Georgia, 2 tours in Germany, Darmstadt and Kaiserslautern and later Washington state where he would retire as a Master Sergeant in 1989 and make it home. Jerry also met Ella Mae Walker in Louisiana in 1971 and later married in 1972, from their beautiful union they created a family with three children Robin, Jerry Jr. and Yvonne. Jerry was just 19 when he started his family, but he was a provider who always made sure they never wanted for anything and continued this mission until his last breath. Jerry excepted Christ at an early age and made Deliverance Bible Church his home in 1989. Jerry served as a faithful and dedicated usher for over 45 years.
Jerry had a passion for cooking, after the military he opened Mack's BBQ Kitchen that began as a little after-hours spot out of his home kitchen serving just the basics that everyone loved and enjoyed. He later moved to a brick and mortar restaurant in Tacoma where he had dining experience as well as catering events. Jerry or "Mack" as he was known, could be found cooking for the church, making a special requested dish, turkeys for Thanksgiving and so much more.
Jerry was welcomed into heaven by his parents Virgil Sr. and Flora Mae McClurkin, Grandparents Willis and Kindness McClurkin, 4 brothers William, Virgil Jr., Billy and Michael McClurkin, 1 sister Beverly Ann Murray and 1 grandson Arvin De Leon Elmore Jr.
Left to cherish his memories and continue his legacy are his wife of 53 years Ella Mae McClurkin, 1 son Jerry McClurkin Jr. (Nicole), 2 daughters Robin Lyn Elmore (Arvin Sr.) and Yvonne McClurkin, 1 grandson Arvin De Leon Elmore III, 2 granddaughters Ravin-Monet Yvontrice and Indya Symonya Elmore, a host of nieces and nephews, close friends and bonus family along with adopted nephew and niece Breon and Sharon Myles.
