Jerry Meeks Obituary
Jerry Steven Meeks age 66 of Rocky Mount passed away at his home on Friday, March 28, 2025 surrounded by his family. Jerry was born on April 8, 1958 a son of the late Joe Henry Meeks, Jr. and Betty Jane Meeks. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jackie Meeks; father-in-law, Bobby Shively; and a sister-in-law, Lisa Shively.
He loved his family, his many dear friends and loved NASCAR especially his favorite drivers, Darrell Waltrip and Joey Logano. He also had a love for the Cruise Inn Rocky Mount and was a fair-weather hunter. He will be remembered for his small engine skills and being a humble and soft spoken man. He was truly loved by everyone and will be missed by all.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Velvet Meeks; his son, Brandon Meeks (Amanda); daughter, Tiffani McDearmon (Ben); his loving grandchildren, Ivy Meeks, Elijah McDearmon, Norah McDearmon, Melodie Amos and Zachary Amos; brothers, Ricky Meeks and Teddy Meeks (Betty); sisters-in-law, Angela Campbell (Chad) and Debbie Meeks. His also survived by his mother-in-law, Marie Shively; brother-in-law, Darryl Shively; and other family members including his special nephews and cousins and numerous friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association in his name by using the link provided below.
A celebration of his life will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with the Rev. David Taylor officiating. Inurnment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 AM.
