Jerry Thomas Mitchell

Jerry Thomas Mitchell, 78, of Louisville, KY, passed away on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024.
Jerry was born in Louisville, KY on January 11th, 1947 to Henry and Virginia Mitchell, the 9th of 10 children. He was a proud 1965 graduate of St. Xavier High School, and 1969 graduate of Bellarmine University. He retired from the US Army with the rank of Sergeant Major after 32 years of service. Jerry will be remembered as a world class gardener, baker, and most of all a family man.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Virginia Mitchell, one sister, Millie and 5 brothers, Henry, Tony, John, Don and Urban.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Cynthia (Koenig) Mitchell; his children, Thomas Ehrler (Claudia), Laura Rowland, Mac Mitchell (Bernadette), Tommy Mitchell (Cara), Joe Mitchell and Henry Mitchell (Eleanor); and his 13 grandchildren, Sophia, Christian, Georgia, Will, Ellie, Caroline, Benton, Brooke, T.J., Celilo, Jerome, Virginia and Alice. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Ann Barry, Jenny Gaff (Don) and Willa Mitchell and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 22nd from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. His funeral Mass will be Monday at 12:00pm at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 639 S. Shelby Street, with burial to follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
