Jerry David Newton, known affectionately as Jerry, left this world on May 27, 2025, at the age of 67, surrounded by the love of his family in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born on September 24, 1957, in Hugoton, Kansas, to R.D. Newton and Yvonne Newton. Services will be held Saturday May 31 at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel, with the Rev Brian Plant Officating Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery
Graduating from Mangum High School, Jerry's early years were marked by a strong sense of community and an eagerness to forge his own path. He found his calling with the Union Pacific Railroad, where his dedication and hard work left a lasting impression on his colleagues and the many lives he touched through his association involvement.
Jerry's personal life was rich with love and laughter, anchored by his beloved wife Connie and their cherished daughters Shawna Elliott and her husband Russ, Sherri Nash, and Katy Juntti-Newton. His life was further blessed with the joyous clamor of 8 grandchildren and the delightful pitter-patter of 11 great-grandchildren, who all brought immense happiness and pride to his heart. Being around Jerry meant feeling welcome, loved, and heard.
Family was the cornerstone of Jerry's life, including his brother Ralph Newton and wife Sheila, and his sisters Nita Newton and Jamie Day. He was a source of strength and inspiration, always there to offer support or share a moment of joy. Jerry was preceded in death by his cherished daughter Misty, his son Steven, and his sister Nina, who all held special places in his heart.
Jerry's passions were as varied as they were heartfelt. He relished the time spent working on cars, a hobby that showcased his mechanical ingenuity and patience. His love for his family was evident in the countless hours he spent playing with his grandkids and great-grandkids, creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
A man of faith, Jerry found solace and joy in listening to gospel music and sermons. His spiritual journey was a personal one, providing him with comfort and guidance throughout his life. Additionally, Jerry's love for music extended to the blues, and he could often be found tapping his foot to the rhythm of his favorite tunes.
Jerry also had a soft spot for the excitement of street racing, and he was an avid fan of the show "Street Outlaws." His enthusiasm for the sport was infectious, and he loved discussing the latest races and sharing this passion with friends and family.
