Jerry Lee Parsley passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on August 14, 2025. Born in Decatur, Illinois on January 6, 1942, he was the son of the late Cyril and Opal (Winters) Parsley. He was 83.

Jerry proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1960-1964 on the U.S.S. Long Beach, the first nuclear power guided missile cruiser in the U.S.S. Enterprise carrier group. He served as a Fire Control Technician, Second Class. His time in the Navy inspired him to go to college and become an Engineer. Using the GI Bill, He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1969 from Purdue University, with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. Jerry spent the next 27 years working as an Electrical Engineer for IBM, designing computer chips, and working on Supercomputer Mainframes. On September 1, 1968, he married his beloved wife Janet Kay (Laxen) Parsley and they spent many happy years together.

Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who loved deep sea fishing for cod, bluefish, and flounder, fishing in the Salmon River as well as hunting deer, turkey, and pheasants. He was a member of the Overlook Rod & Gun Club for many years. He loved to go hunting for Morel mushrooms. He learned to find them as a boy in Indiana and continued to hunt them throughout his life in New York. He instilled his love of the outdoors in his three daughters through annual family camping trips to Lake George. Jerry also loved to tend to his backyard garden, growing huge tomatoes, zucchini, and cucumbers.

In addition to his loving wife Janet, Jerry is survived by their 3 daughters: Tiffany Petrino and her husband, Tony, of Nobleboro, ME, Amanda Robinson and her husband Nick of Greensburg, PA, and Katrina Parsley of Asheville, NC; his 4 siblings in Indiana: Peggy King and her husband Jerry, Jimmy Ray Parsley, Debra Kay Alexander, and Jackie Harold Parsley.

Calling hours will be held from 12-3 pm on Thursday, August 28, 20205 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction, NY. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 29,2025 at 1pm at Trinity Methodist Church 6 South Cross Lagrangeville, NY, followed by burial in Lagrangeville Cemetery.
