Jerry Donald Rudisill, 70, of Hickory, passed away December 22, 2012 at his residence. Born March 8, 1942 in Cleveland Co., he was the son of the late Jalonas Franklin Rudisill and Alma Lou Deaton Rudisill. He was the President and CEO of Rudisill Transportation. He was actively involved in the trucking industry for 50 years. He was a member of the Catawba Traffic Club, AFMA, NAFTIC, and the Delta Nu Alpha. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was a former youth director, involved in the scouting program, former member of the church council and served as chairman of the council. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who supported his grandchildren in all of their activities and sporting events. Mr. Rudisill is survived by his wife Janet Refour Rudisill of the home; sons, Erik Keith Rudisill and wife Amy Burrus of Hickory, Brett Alan Rudisill and wife Jeannie Blakley of Newton; sister, Linda Rudisill Deese of Mooresville; brother, David Timothy Rudisill and wife Sheila of Vale; nephew, David Deese of Mooresville; grandchildren, Austin Rudisill, Tyler Rudisill, Aaron Rudisill, and Emilie Rudisill. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday December 24, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Woodward officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6-8:00 PM at Bass-Smith Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Catawba Regional Hospice 3975 Robinson Rd. Newton, NC 28658 or Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund 1911 Zion Church Rd. Hickory, NV 28602. Bass-Smith Funeral Home is serving the family of Jerry Donald Rudisill.
