Jerry W. Runyon

MUNCIE – Jerry W. Runyon, 81, passed away on Friday evening, December 13, 2024.
He was born on August 3, 1943 in Marion, the son of Dwight and Alice M. (Weaver) Runyon and graduated from Marion High School in 1961. He married Karen D. Grace on May 2, 1965. He served his country in the Indiana National Guard for 4 years.
Jerry owned and operated Jerry's Stadium Marathon for 36 plus years. He owned and coached a semi-professional basket team, owned Muncie Dragway for 6 years and raced his own car. He had a love for the lakes, coaching, collecting cars and animals. He loved all sports, especially the Chicago Bears.
He was very giving and hard-working. He enjoyed making others laugh and playing jokes. He always went out of his way to give and help others with nothing expected in return. His love for his family was first and foremost over everything else.
Surviving are his wife of over 59 years, Karen D. Runyon; son, Rick Runyon; daughter, Kim Runyon; four grandchildren, Maddix (Shellya), Brayden, Brodrik and Korrigan (Dylan); five great-grandchildren, Corey, Kaleb, Camden, Karter and Kinslee; one brother, Larry Runyon; one niece and two nephews, Erick, Michelle and Chris.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, Muncie. A private burial will be held at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, Muncie, from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2024.
