CORDELE - Jerry A. Sanders, age 69, died Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Crisp Regional Hospital. To honor Jerry's memory, the family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. A graveside funeral service will take place later at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Sunnyside Cemetery. For those who wish to reach out to the family, you can find them at the home of his daughter, Melinda, at 1496 Georgia Hwy 257, Cordele, Georgia.
Jerry was born in Cordele, Georgia to John Thomas Sanders, Jr. and the late Joann Maddox. In addition to his mother, he is also preceded in death by his brother Tony Sanders, Sr.
Jerry was a true outdoorsman, spending his days driving a truck for Clary Logging Company, cruising around in his beloved blue 1965 Ford Galaxy, and meticulously tending to his daughter's lawn with his trusty Z-turn lawn mower. When he wasn't outside, you could find him glued to the TV, watching his favorite shows like American Idol, Parking Wars, Survivor, and WWE SmackDown. He cherished his time socializing with friends at the Cordele Recreation Parlor (The Pool Room) and, most of all, spending quality time with his family. Jerry also attended the 16th Avenue Church of Christ.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Jo Sanders of Cordele; his children Melinda (Miles) Platt and Heather Sanders, both of Cordele; his father John Thomas Sanders, Jr. of Rebecca, Georgia, his siblings Ricky Sanders, David Sanders, and Billy Mike Sanders of Cordele, Sheila Stokes of Vienna, Georgia, Tina Lewis and Teresa Earnest of Rebecca. He also leaves behind his stepmother, Glenda Sanders of Rebecca, sister-in-law Jennifer Hudson Watson of Cordele, his nephew William "D.J." Hudson, as well as other nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
