Jerry Maurice Sherman was born on November 14, 1947, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Simon Sherman Jr. and Claret Sherman. Jerry was called home into the loving arms of the Lord on September 18, 2025.

Jerry graduated from Stanton High School in 1965 and shortly after enlisted into the US Army. He served as Combat Medic Specialist and deployed to action in the Vietnam War. After serving 4 years in the military, Jerry was honorably discharged and he returned home. Jerry retired from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office after more than 30 years of service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Armelia Sherman McCoy and loving aunts Callie Knight and Helen Tinsley.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his lovely wife Helen Sherman and his siblings Diana Sherman Coleman, Michael B. Sherman Sr., and Juan (Melanie) Drayton. In-laws Geraldine (Monroe) West, Joyce (James) Chafen, Alfred Spencer, Gail West, Monroe West Jr.; Children Anthony (Brittany) Coleman, Tiffany (Reggie) Grier, Michael Grant, Clyde Grant, Traci Grant, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Though Jerry will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of the Lord, where there is no pain, only peace.
