Jerry Michael Shingleton, born on December 2, 1955, in Wilson County, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, in
Jacksonville, NC, at the age of 69.
A beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Jerry was known for his infectious sense of humor and love for life. As a self-employed construction worker, he built more than structures; he built memories and lasting bonds with those around him. Jerry's home was a haven for laughter and good company, where he often entertained family and friends with his quick wit and endless jokes while relaxing on the porch.
Jerry was a devoted family man who lived for his grandchildren and delighted in surprising them with Easter morning treasures. He possessed a green thumb and was renowned for his thriving garden, especially his prized muscadine grapes. His workshop was a sanctuary of creativity, where he earned the affectionate title of "Redneck MacGyver" from his family. Countless weekends were spent enjoying BBQ chicken nights, where Jerry imparted his grilling expertise to future generations.
He was a man who took immense pleasure in simply being himself, reveling in the love and joy that surrounded him each day.
Jerry is preceded in death by his loving parents, David and Ollie Shingleton, and his brother, Davey Lee Shingleton, Jr. He is survived by his sons, Jason Shingleton of Burlington, NC, Darren Shingleton (Karyn) of Newport, NC, and Jeff Shingleton (Hannah) of
Jacksonville, NC. He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren: Isabella, Haley, Gavin, Keagan, and Savanna.
