Jerry James Sigg, age 62 of rural Hollandale died on Sunday, June 16, 2024 surrounded by his family as a result of an unexpected massive stroke. Jerry farmed every day of his life from the time he could put his boots on until the stroke took him away from the people he loved and everything he loved to do. He was born on January 11, 1962 in Dodgeville to Joe Robert and Shirley Ann (Toay) Sigg. He grew up on the family farm in rural Hollandale farming alongside his parents and his four brothers and two sisters. Jerry went to the Hollandale grade school and after the school merger the Pecatonica high school, graduating in 1981. Even while he was in high school in 1980 he bought his first herd of cows and started milking and farming. In 1984 on October 5th he married the love of his life, Catherine Jo Lageson, and they were married for 39 years. In 1987 Jerry and Cathy bought their own farm where they raised their twelve children and farmed until his death. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church for his whole life where he served on the council and was very active in his faith and parish life. He served on the board of Premier Co-Op. He put his faith first, and then family and farm before himself. Jerry could fix anything or do anything with his hands, and invented his own solutions to problems on the farm. He was a very moral and ethical man who was not afraid to speak up. His most important title was dad!
Jerry is survived by his wife, Cathy Sigg of rural Hollandale; twelve children, Jaden (Brooke Devoss) of Hollandale, Jennifer (Joshua) Bailie of Lancaster, Lavin (Tanya) Sigg of Dodgeville, Carl (Shanne) Sigg of Blanchardville, Rebecca (James) Jordan of Barneveld, and Jacob (Sheena) Sigg, Patricia Sigg, Zebulon Sigg, Caleb Sigg, Isaac Sigg, Alyssa Sigg, and Valerie Sigg all of Hollandale; his mother Shirley Sigg of Hollandale; sixteen grandchildren who were all his pride and joy; and his six siblings, Sherry (Scott) Pecor of DeKalb, Illinois, Sue Sigg of Hollandale, Joe Jr. (Jennie) Sigg of Dodgeville, Jeff (Beth) Sigg of Mineral Point, Jay (Andrea) Sigg of Hollandale, and Jim (Margaret) Sigg of Hollandale; his mother-in-law, Rosella Lageson of Blanchardville; and several aunts and uncles and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Joe Sigg who died in 2011.

What a shock, it was great being able to catch up again these past few years after moving back to the area after my 40-year absence. God bless and I'm sure we'll catch up with each other again.
