Jerry WARD Obituary

Jerry Lyle Ward an adored husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully at his home on December 24, 2024, at the age of 86 with his wife Beverly Ward by his side.

Born in Watertown, South Dakota on January 5, 1938, to Gerald and Louise Ward.

Jerry graduated from Spokane's Lewis and Clark High School in 1956. After graduating from high school, Jerry briefly attended Washington State University before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served in the USMC reserves for 9 years, from 1958 to 1967. His patriotism and pride in his service was lifelong.

On October 25, 1958, Jerry was married to the love of his life, Beverly Ann Robinson in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Together they raised two sons, Gregory Allen and Todd Mitchell, and enjoyed more than 66 years of marriage.

Jerry worked as a manager for Sears and Montgomery Ward while serving in the USMC Reserves. After his honorable discharge from the USMC, Jerry began a distinguished career in insurance and financial planning- a career that spanned over 50 years. Throughout the years, he enjoyed the connections that he made with each of his clients and associates.

He was a longtime member of Whitworth Church in Spokane. Jerry was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Spokane and the El Katif Shrine.

Throughout his life, he was an avid fisherman and bird hunter. Jerry and Beverly traveled the world together and enjoyed many memorable adventures together. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, working on crossword puzzles, and at times sharing his dry sense of humor with others. Jerry was always quick to lend a hand or offer a kind word to those around him and he had a sincere interest in building relationships with everyone whom he met. The legacy of Jerry's life is one that we all can proudly strive to live by - one of love, one of kindness, and one of humility. He will be forever missed and dearly loved.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Ward; sons, Gregory Ward (wife, Kim) and Todd Ward (wife, Megan); and a sister, Pam Gillmor. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Matthew Ward (wife Kristi), Tara Courtney (Husband Kyle), Olivia Ward, and Emma Osusky (husband Brandon) Jevan Boudreau, Bailey Boudreau, Cooper Boudreau; three great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Louise Ward; and sister, Karen Brown.

A service to celebrate Jerry's life will be held at Whitworth Church, on January 31, at 11:00 AM. The address is 312 W. Hawthorne Rd., Spokane, WA 99218. Following the celebration of life there will be a graveside military service with military honors at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, at 2:30 PM. The address is 21702 W. Espanola Rd., Medical Lake, WA 99022.
