Jesse Bell Obituary

With heavy hearts, we honor the remarkable life of Jesse "JC" Bell, who passed away on July 18, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on August 30, 1931, in Liberty, Kentucky, JC lived a life rich in dedication and love, leaving a mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A devoted husband to his beloved wife, June Bell, for an extraordinary 71 years, JC embodied the essence of commitment and kindness. His passion for hard work was evident throughout his career, having devoted many years to Save A Lot, where he continued to serve his community up until the impressive age of 80. His relentless work ethic was surpassed only by his profound dedication to his family, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer solace during difficult times.

Although he may have been more of an animal person than a people person, his love for his cherished dog, Dakota, spoke volumes of his compassionate heart. JC found joy in the simple moments of life, often reflecting a deep appreciation for the connections he formed—whether with two-legged or four-legged companions alike.

JC was a member of Arcade Baptist Church. His strong morals and gentle demeanor were traits that touched the lives of his family, friends, and neighbors.

JC is survived by his loving wife, June Bell; his daughters, Karen Shields and Cindy Becker alongside her husband, David; and his grandsons, Steven Shields and his wife, Carla, and Matthew Shields. In addition to his immediate family, he is also survived by several great and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom continue to carry his legacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Bess Bell, and his brother, Harold Bell. They welcome him now into their loving embrace, having surely missed him for all these years.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272, on Wednesday, July 30th from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on Thursday, July 31st at 12:00 PM, also at Newcomer Funeral Home. He will then be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park.

JC Bell's spirit will remain alive in the hearts of those he loved dearly. His commitment to family, hard work, and the simple joys of life will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed, but his legacy will endure through the countless lives he touched.

In honor of JC's love for animals, the family kindly ask that in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the KY Humane Society https://www.kyhumane.org/donate or Animal House https://www.fomaslou.org/
