Jesse Bryant Gardner Sr.

Jesse Bryant Gardner, Sr., 92, of New Bern, NC passed away peacefully at CarolinaEast Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
Jesse was born May 25, 1931, into the loving family of Johnnie and Josephine Gardner.
Jesse was drafted in the Army and served from February 10, 1951 – February 5, 1953, and was a very proud Veteran, Marching with American Pride in Many of Pamlico County Veterans Day Parades.
Jesse met the love of his life Annie Mae Wiley and the two married and made New Bern, NC Their home and raised 3 children.
Jesse was a hardworking family man and worked for Sunbeam Bread Company delivering fresh baked bread to Pamlico and Beaufort Counties for 21 years. He retired from being a cook on multiple Tugboats for Express Marine after 27 years.
Jesse loved hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He was a true gentleman, that always showed kindness and respect to anyone he met.
His legacy will be remembered as "The Greatest Legacy One Can Pass On to One's Children and Grandchildren is not money. But Rather A Legacy Of Character And Faith" Billy Graham.
He is preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years Annie Mae Wiley Gardner, Daughter Elma Marie Gardner, his parents Johnnie and Josephine Gardner, Brothers; Johnnie Ray Gardner, Jeffrie Gardner; Sisters; Joyce Gardner Nobles, Jonquill Gardner Lanier.
He is survived by his children; Son, Michael Gardner (Linda) of Bridgeton; Rena Josephine Anderson (Dalton) Of New Bern; Jesse B Gardner, Jr (Karen) of Grantsboro.
Grandchildren; Michelle Gardner Gibson (Eugene) Of Grantsboro; Kimberly Gardner Langston (Ernie) of Bridgeton; Jason Gardner, Kyle Gardner of Grantsboro; Allyson Gardner Spain (Cody) of Arapahoe, Jesse B Gardner, III (Camry) of Ernul.
Great Grandchildren; Michael Paul Gibson, Edan (Buby) Langston, Lilliana Gardner- Gody, Bailey & Boden Spain.
Sisters; Jacqueline Gardner Willis of Greensboro, Juliette Gardner Church of Washington State, Joan Gardner Finch of Michigan and a special sister-in-law Sandra Gardner of New Bern.
Brother, Joel Gardner (Jessie) of Virginia and a host of nieces and nephews.
Flowers can be sent to the funeral home, prior to the service up to 8 am on the morning of the service. After that time, flowers can be delivered to Greenleaf Memorial Park Lakeside Chapel.
