Deacon Jesse "Bo-Peep" Harrell, 88, peacefully departed this life at his home on Sunday, January 19, 2025. He was a man whose kindness, generosity, and infectious spirit touched the lives of everyone he encountered, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love and friendship.
Known for his warm smile, compassionate nature, and unwavering ability to brighten any room, Deacon Jesse Harrell had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued. His friendliness knew no bounds, and his ability to listen and offer words of encouragement was a comfort to many. A proud Dallas Cowboys fan, Deacon Jesse never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team, sharing his enthusiasm and team spirit with those around him.
Deacon Jesse was a faithful servant of God. At an early age, he joined the Chapel Hill Baptist Church of Rich Square, NC. Upon moving to Paterson, he joined the New Christian Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend R.L. Douglas. He served as a trustee and later an ordained deacon. He was also a member of the Men's Chorus. He was also a member of the Shiloh Baptist Association of New Jersey Laymen Department. He lived his life with purpose and humility, embodying the principles of love, kindness, and service. His faith was a guiding light, not only in his own life but also in the lives of those he inspired and uplifted through his example.
Born in Rich Square, NC, Deacon Jesse Harrell was a long time New Jersey resident, and over the years, he became a beloved figure in his community. He was employed by the Thomas English Muffin company, and he was also employed at the Clifton Board of Education as a crossing guard. He cherished time spent with his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to know him. His heart was big, his spirit bright, and his genuine care for others made him unforgettable.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Antoinette Harrell; his parents, Junious and Lillie Harrell; his brothers, Eddie Lee Harrell, Frank, Thatcher, James, Jim, William, and Abraham Williams; and his sisters Beatrice Stewart and Mary Williams.

Mr. Jesse, a wonderful cross guard at School 16 in Clifton, greeting all the students with a cheerful "Morning". Loved by students and parents for his friendliness and positive attitude. He touched our hearts with his kindness and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

I'm deeply saddened to hear the news. He was always a bright presence, and his passing will be deeply felt.
Remembering his voice "Good Morning" how enthusiastic he was each day as we use to walk towards school.

Jesse was the cherished crossing guard at School 16 in Clifton NJ for many years. He was a kind and approachable gentleman who left a lasting impression on everyone who passed through his crosswalk. Known for his friendly demeanor and ability to make small talk, Jesse brought warmth to his role. One of his most endearing gestures was giving a fist bump to every child who crossed his path, creating moments of connection and joy. His presence made the school community feel cared for and valued. God bless Jesse and his family during this time.
