Jesse Elgar Kevil was born August 9, 1933 in Tom Green County to Allison Mortin Kevil and Leona Elizabeth Bright.
Jesse graduated high school in 1952 and continued onto college, until he enlisted in the Army in 1956, attended Basic Training in Ft Chaffee, AR, Occupational Specialty training at Ft. Sill, and served at Ft Rucker, AL as a Helicopter Mechanic, until the end of his enlistment in 1958.
Upon his release from the Army, he was able to pursue his passions in becoming a master butcher, a master carpenter and his God given talent with artistry.
He was very talented and enjoyed what he did for a living. His wood carvings were sold in Santa Fe, NM, and Ruidoso, NM, and California, among other various locations. His hobbies also included rodeo riding, leather work, jewelry making, macrame, painting and drawing. He also loved animals.
He was an active member of the Carlsbad Art Association, Calico Christmas and the Carpenters Union.
He was very outgoing and generous but very serious when he had gun or whip in hand.
Jesse is preceded in death by his parents Allison Morton Kevil and Leona Elizabeth Kevil, his brothers Richard Allison Kevil, Paul Martin Kevil, and Tommy Leroy Kevil, and Goofey cat.
He is survived by his sisters Mary Katherine Wyrick and Sherry Ann Stevenson, and many nieces and nephews and Maximus Decimus Meridius the cat.
Honorary Pallbearers are Fred Wyrick, David Wyrick, Travis Stevenson, Terry Busby, Robin Earwood, and Joshua Musgrove.
A special thanks to Pastor Kevin Pence.
