It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Jesse Dean Lill at the age of 31 on Monday, September 30, 2024. Jesse was born on August 5, 1993 in Rochester, NY to Charles and Ann Warner Lill of Mendon, NY. Jesse was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Charles J. and Patricia Harvey Lill of Irondequoit, NY; his maternal grandparents, Ardean and Virginia Quanz Warner of Wayland, NY; his godmother and great aunt, Lucille Quanz; and his beloved cousin, Billie Jo Warner. Jesse is survived by his wife, Emma Sullivan; daughter, Elaine Patricia (Lainey) Lill; son, Dean Sullivan (Sully) Lill; parents, Charles and Ann Lill; brothers, Luke (Erica) Lill and Jake (Amy-Lynn) Lill; sister, Mackenzie Lill; nephew, Jakob (JC) Lill; and niece, Virginia Lill. Jesse leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members as well as numerous friends who loved him like family including colleagues at Frank Lill and Son, classmates from Michigan State University, his brotherhood at Psi Upsilon Fraternity, his classmates and teammates at McQuaid Jesuit, his teammates of Canandaigua Knights Hockey and Mendon Baseball, his St. Louis School friends, and many more friends whose lives he touched along the way.
Jesse graduated from McQuaid Jesuit in 2012 and graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Construction Management. He joined his father and brothers in a fourth-generation family-owned business, Frank Lill and Son, founded by Jesse's great-grandfather in 1922. The business just surpassed 102 years in the power plant industry. Jesse started working on the tools alongside skilled tradesmen in high school, eventually working his way to Vice President. He helped manage major projects in Salem, MA, Albany, NY, Bridgeport, CT, Dover Plains, NY, and Columbus OH.
Jesse had an uncanny ability to recall and use every detail and snippet from his favorite movies, Marvel and DC characters, TV shows, songs, and cartoons to embellish his conversations with humor. His charismatic personality was one of a kind. No matter the setting, Jesse was the funniest guy in the room and his talent for comedy was unsurpassed. The jokes and humor he crafted throughout the years that were accompanied by his contagious smile will not be forgotten. Jesse could always find humor in the smallest of details and in the most challenging of times. He loved children and was always "the fun cousin" at family gatherings, chasing the little ones around his parents' home. When he was blessed with children of his own, he always had them singing and dancing. His favorites for them were "You're Welcome" from Moana and "What is Love". The patience he had for his kids was unmatched. He would spend hours with both Elaine and Sully putting together Lego sets, and loved bonding over this pastime he so enjoyed from his own childhood. His family's trip to Disney this past spring was a magical memory, and Jesse often reflected on how it was worth every penny seeing Elaine's face light up in front of the castle. He loved watching his kids enjoy holidays, but he especially loved going all out for Halloween and Christmas. His favorite earned title was "Dad", and there wasn't a thing that he wouldn't do for his children. Jesse was fiercely loyal, caring, and empathetic to his family and friends. He was a truly good man with a kind soul. He was a tremendously bright light in this world.
Please join the Lill family in celebrating his cherished life. Visiting hours are Friday, October 11th from 2-7PM at Anthony Funeral Chapel, 2305 Monroe Ave, Rochester, NY. Jesse's Funeral Mass of Remembrance will be on Saturday, October 12th, 11AM at St. Catherine of Siena in Mendon, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jesse's name to McQuaid Jesuit, 1800 South Clinton Avenue, Rochester, NY 14618, or Golisano Children's Hospital in Rochester, NY.

So sorry for your loss. My family sends our love and prayers to yours. My first memory of Jessie was when he came out to help us with some refractory work at us salt. He had such an easy going way about his personality, big, strong, and willing to work hard just like all the boys. He was attending college at the time and would share his stories and experiences with the crew. I was amazed how such a big man can work so hard all day and all he brought for lunch was a big bag of beef jerky. It was such a pleasure to get to know him over the years.
