Jesse Mickelson

Murray, Utah – Our beloved dad, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Jesse H Mickelson, peacefully passed away on December 20, 2025. He was born February 24, 1939, to Jesse Meeks and Beatrice Hulet Mickelson in Cedar City, UT.

He married the love of his life, Jacki Jackson on July 18, 1959 in Kanab, Ut: later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 3 beautiful children: Rick Mickelson (Leslie), Debbi Moffitt (Bruce), and Ryan Mickelson (Becky).

Dad was active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, holding many callings throughout his life including Bishop of the Murray 17th Ward. He was very active in Scouting helping a large number of young men receive their Eagle rank. Our dad then went on to receive the Silver Beaver award.

Dad loved his family and made us the priority in his life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He would take his family on many hunts. He also loved fishing at Flaming Gorge every year for Kokanee Salmon. He enjoyed going to the racetrack to help his son Rick with drag racing. He also enjoyed supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their various activities. He was one of their loudest supporters. He also enjoyed wood working. Later in life he loved wintering in Yuma, Az with his loving wife and friends. Dad was also a big BYU fan.

Early in life dad worked for his uncle, Carlyle Hulet delivery dairy products throughout Southern Utah. After marriage he moved to Salt Lake City, where he worked for Sperry Univac (later became L3 Communications) as an Electrical Engineer.

He is preceded in death by his wife Jacki and parents Jesse and Beatrice. He is survived by; son, Rick Mickelson (Leslie); daughter, Debbi Moffitt (Bruce); and son, Ryan Mickelson (Becky), sister, Virginia Brown and brother, Joe Mickelson (Ruth). Grandchildren Courtney McKay (Tracy), Greg Moffitt (Kelsey), Derrick Mickelson (Heather), Monica Bartlett (Ivan), Ashlee Tayor (Dayvon), Christopher Mickelson, and Marc Mickelson; great-grandchildren Peyton, Livi, Emily, Claire, Katelyn, Jess, Gus, Kate, Easton, Violet, Jeff, Bree and one due in February.

A funeral service will be held Monday, December 29th, 2025 at 11:00 am., at the Murray Brownstone LDS Chapel, located at 6410 S. 725 E., Murray, UT. Viewings will be held on Sunday, December 28th, 2025 from 5-7 pm at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 4760 S. State Street, Murray, UT and on December 29th, 2025 from 10-10:45 am at the church prior to the funeral. Interment will be at Murray City Cemetery, 5600 S Vine Street, Murray, UT.
