East Providence - Jesse Rezendes, III, 67, known fondly as Jesse to all who knew him, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday June 16, 2025, at Hope Hospice in Providence, Rhode Island. Born on July 10, 1957, in Providence, he was the cherished son of the late Jesse and Kathryn (Murphy) Rezendes, Jr., and a lifelong resident of East Providence.
Jesse lived a life marked by the sea, having spent many years as a respected commercial fisherman. His days aboard the "Ingtoffer II," working alongside Captain Paul Harvey, were among the most fulfilling of his career. His dedication to his work was only matched by his commitment to his faith as a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church.
Beyond the ocean's horizon, Jesse found joy in the roar of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. His rides were not merely a hobby but a passion that took him to the sun-soaked streets of Daytona and Ft. Pierce, Florida. When not on the open road, Jesse could often be found in his garage, a sanctuary of solace and creativity.
Jesse's life was further enriched by his love for his family. He is survived by his significant other, Debra Capaldi of East Providence, Big Jesse was a devoted father to his son Little Jesse. Everyone who knew him knew he lived his life for Jesse. His unwavering love and support was seen by many and he was always so proud of his accomplishments. His stepdaughter Melissa McMahon, both of East Providence. His brothers, Joseph P., John A. "Jack," of Jamestown, James M, Rezendes of Coventry, Jeffrey M. Rezendes, and his sister Kathryn Bliss, both of Jamestown, also survive him. His legacy will live on through the many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Jesse.
A pillar of the community, Jesse was a gold member of the Teofilo Braga Club, where his generosity and selflessness were as well-known as his infectious laugh. He had a reputation for being a man who would help anyone in need, embodying the true spirit of community and camaraderie.
Generous, thoughtful, and selfless - these words best encapsulate the essence of Jesse. He lived his life for others, always thinking of how he could make someone's day brighter, whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or simply by sharing a moment of laughter.
Jesse's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories told by friends at the Teofilo Braga Club, in the gentle hum of engines at motorcycle gatherings, and in the quiet moments spent by family members reflecting on the many ways he touched their lives.
Jesse's journey through life was one of purpose, joy, and love. As we bid farewell to a man of the sea, a rider of the roads, and a beacon of light in the community, we take solace in knowing that Jesse Rezendes, III's legacy will forever sail on the tides of our memories.
The family would like to say Thank You to the Perry, Allsworth – Henderson and Paolucci Families, for their unwavering support and love, also to the caregivers at Rhode Island Hospital on BB 5 CCU and at Hope Hospice for the compassionate care and kindness they showed to Jesse, his family and friends.
