Jesse Suggs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McClam Funeral Home - New Haven on Jan. 3, 2023.
Jesse Darnell Suggs, age 59 of West Haven, CT transitioned on December 24, 2022. He passed away unexpectedly following a brief medical event. This is a tremendous loss to our family. He was loved by everyone.
Jesse was born on March 21, 1963 in New Haven, CT to the late Ernest Odell Suggs, Sr. and Eldress Thelma Marie Suggs Parker (Stepfather Elder Lee Parker Jr.). Jesse was the youngest of his siblings and was full of life. He attended New Haven Public Schools to include Wilbur Cross High School and Job Corp. He was a hard worker and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked. No one was ever a stranger because he was a friend to everyone he met. His neighbors said Jesse would fuss at them if they took their own trash out before he could take it out for them. If someone was moving, he was the first person we called. We knew he could get the heavy lifting done.
Jesse was the life of every party and enjoyed dancing especially James Brown. He loved animals including his dogs Shaft and Velvet. He also enjoyed fishing and made sure his nephews experienced it with him. He loved sports too. The Patriots was his favorite football team. He was also an excellent swimmer. Jesse did not leave the nieces out either. Tiffany described him as her eating buddy and jokester. She said he was always laughing and smiling but, quickly turned into her protector when the situation warranted. Honestly, Jesse protected all of his family. He would stand up and fight for any of us.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his two brothers who he idolized Retired Master Gunnery Sergeant Ernest Odell Suggs (Sandra) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Retired Master Sergeant Allen Darden of Irmo, South Carolina, Javis Parker of West Haven, CT; his sisters one whom he affectionately called his little big sis Rosemary Watts (Erskin) of West Haven, CT, Maerose Parker of West Haven, CT; a special niece his Poopie Eldress Elizabeth Howard (Deacon Sonchas), ten nieces and nephews, eighteen great nieces and great nephews who he adored and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Predeceased by his father the late Ernest Odell Suggs, Sr., his maternal grandmother Ethel Mae Darden, his paternal grandfather Ernest Suggs, and niece Monica Suggs.
Take your final rest son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Jesse you are irreplaceable and will be greatly missed.
