Jessica Denise Roe left this world on February 26, 2025, the result of a fentanyl overdose, after a long battle with addiction. Although her struggles were great when using drugs and alcohol, the blessings she shared with the world amid the challenges were abundant.
The greatest and most precious gifts of all are Jessica's four beautiful children. Adam Drake Roe "Drake", age 17, is being raised by Jessica's parents, Petra and Bob Roe, in Wichita. Emerson Patricia Antonia Allen, age 15, and Harper Helena Celeste Allen, age 11, are being raised in Virginia by Pamela Allen who joyfully welcomed them to her family through adoption. Her youngest child, Tommie Winston Johnson, Jr., age 1, is being raised by his father, Tommie Winston Johnson, Sr, in Wichita. Jessica loved her children and was extraordinarily sad that she was not able to raise them. She was equally grateful for the people who loved her enough to raise her children unconditionally. Each of her children possess many of the gifts and talents that Jessica had during her life, the strongest of which are singing, reading, and writing.
Traveling was a favorite pastime and Jessica loved visiting her family in Germany, where her mother was born, and where she could utilize her bilingual skills speaking fluent German. She particularly enjoyed riding on boats with her Oma (grandmother). Her Oma loved to take Jessica and her sister, Julia, to the zoo in Augsburg every time they'd visit. She and Julia loved seeing the "waschbären" (racoons) and Jessica was fascinated by the cheetahs as she would sit and enjoy watching them pace. While in Germany, she loved visiting churches and cemeteries with her family, particularly when they would visit the Bishop's residence and light candles for her grandfather, who she never had a chance to meet.
A gifted writer, Jessica enjoyed putting pen to paper and crafting stories about whatever came to mind. This talent was so strong that Jessica was in the gifted class during her school years because of her advanced writing skills. When she was a little girl, Jessica won first place for form in Tang Soo Do, a Korean form of martial arts, earning a green belt. She also loved to read and recently made an effort to read some of the same books that one of her daughters was reading even though they lived far away from each other. Jessica loved to sing and would often join her father with vocals as he played the guitar.
In addition to her children Drake, Emerson, Helena, and Tommie, her parents, Petra and Bob Roe, and sister, Julia Harding, those left behind to mourn her loss and celebrate her life include her half-brothers Jerrod Douglas Roe of Wichita and Bobby William Roe and his wife Candace of Satanta, KS, her brother-in-law, Mike "Biscuit" Harding and her nieces, Evie and Emily Harding, all of Wichita. The many friends that she had, including those made during her multiple visits to the recovery centers, are abundant. They, too, feel her loss deeply.
The family is eternally grateful for the outpouring of support from those near and far. They encourage those who are so moved to donate in loving memory of Jessica to the National Council for Adoption (https://adoptioncouncil.org/). Her family has been lovingly touched and supported by this organization.
The memorial service for Jessica will be held on Saturday, 22 March, at O.J. Watson Park, 3022 S. Mclean Blvd, in Wichita KS. Enclosed shelter #6 has been reserved to prevent any issue with inclement weather. As you enter the park off of Mclean follow the road to the right towards the park office. Shelter #6 is on the right across from the concessions sign at the office and parking is readily available. I will open the door at 9:30AM for visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:00. The family thanks you all again for the outpouring of love at this difficult time.
