Jessie DeLeon, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, at the age of 93. Born on October 15, 1931, Jessie lived a rich and fulfilling life, marked by his deep love for family and an unwavering dedication to his work. Services will be held at 11 am Friday, December 20, 2024, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
For an impressive 48 years, Jessie worked at American Desk, followed by 12 years at Artco Bell, showcasing his commitment to hard work and integrity. Throughout his life, Jessie found joy in the company of family and friends, with cherished memories including poker nights that brought laughter and camaraderie. He was united in marriage to Petra Rodriguez DeLeon on April 26, 1972, a partnership that exemplified love. He enjoyed dancing, tapping into his vibrant spirit and zest for life. As a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys, he spent many Sundays cheering on his team. He also delighted in yodeling for his family, especially his grandkids, showcasing his playful nature and ability to bring joy to those he loved.
Jessie is preceded in death by his parents, Constancio DeLeon and Petra Vasquez DeLeon; brothers, Tony DeLeon, Sr., Paul DeLeon, Joe DeLeon, and Pete DeLeon; and sisters, Nicolasa Morales, Mary Perez, and Clara Salinas.
Survivors include his loving wife, Petra DeLeon; sons, George DeLeon Sr, and wife, Rachel, and Chrispen DeLeon and wife, Petra; daughters, Dolores Magana and husband, Joe, and Demetria DeLeon; brother, Constancio DeLeon, Jr and wife, Lupe; sisters, Hope Perez, and Kathy Mexia; brother-in-law, Wallie Salinas; sister-in-law, Tina DeLeon; 7 grandchildren, Diana Blanco, George DeLeon, Erika DeLeon, Amber Patino, Samantha DeLeon, Cristian Vargas, and Karina Vargas; 22 great grandchildren, Ashley, Scott, Jr, Robert, Nate, Ariah, Angie, Rylie, Nate, Anthony, Layla, Alaya, Alonzo, Lola, Rosa, PJ, Xavier, Kylie, Khalie, Kenzie, Sammy, and Noelle; and 5 great great grandchildren, Zai, Remi, Mav, Nate, and Meli.
A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 pm with a holy rosary recited at 7 pm Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the funeral home.
