Marisa "Mone" DeLeon

Marisa "Mone" DeLeon, 52 of Big Spring passed away Friday, August 15, 2025. Vigil service will be 7 PM Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Memorial service will be 10 AM Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

She was born on April 14, 1973 in Santa Clara, California. Spent the majority of her life in Big Spring with a few years in Midland. Marisa graduated from Big Spring High School with honors. Received her Associates in Nursing at Howard College as well as Infection, Prevention and Control Certificate. She was a Registered Nurse for 16 years, worked at Big Spring State Hospital for 15 years. While there, she was honored with Registered Nurse of the year in 2017 and the Hospital Hero Award in the peak of covid in 2020. She had a background in Pharmacy and had extensive knowledge in this area, which provided as a great resource and mentor in each role she worked in. She was also the Team Nurse Manager for many years and was well respected by her peers and Team members. Her unwavering want to celebrate others, whether it was birthdays, baby showers, or just a "good job!" was just who she was. She knew everyone's favorite dish and would guarantee they received it on special occasions. Marisa was the most genuine and unselfish person.

Her family, especially her son, meant everything to her. She was loved by everyone that knew her.

She is survived by her son, Derek Howard; father, Mario DeLeon; mother and father, Eulalia Martinez (Gilbert); sisters, Jackie Molina (David) & Melisa Carrion (Jay) all of Big Spring; brother, Mario Anthony DeLeon of Littleton, Colorado; step-brother, James Sheldon of Redwood City, California; nephews: D.J. Molina, Jr., Noah Molina, Elijah Carrion & Isaiah Martinez; nieces: Mia Martinez, Jaycee Carrion & Natalia Carrion; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
