Ken Cobb Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Myers & Smith Funeral Home & Chapel on Aug. 21, 2025.
Ken (Kenny) Cobb Jr., 59, of Big Spring, went to his final resting place early Wednesday morning, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loved ones.

Kenny was born on May 30, 1966, in Big Spring, Texas, to Shirlie Abney Cobb and Ken Cobb Sr. He attended Coahoma High School, where he was active in FFA. After completing high school, he quickly began working in the oilfield. He worked for B&E Roustabout for eight years before continuing his career with Heartland Drilling out of Abilene, Texas. There, he spent 17 years, starting as a chain hand and working his way up to driller, later becoming a tool pusher. In 2015, Kenny stepped out on his own, starting Kenny Cobb Contract Pumping in Big Spring, in which he operated until recent health issues forced him to slow down.

On February 20, 1999, Kenny married the love of his life, Melissa "Lisa" Moore, of Big Spring. Together, they shared countless adventures-whether traveling to Cancun, riding Harleys with their best friends Jerry and Cathie Baldock, or cruising to Sturgis each year. But more than anything, Kenny loved the simple joys of being outdoors, spending time at the lake with family and friends, and especially making memories with his two grandsons, Carl and Levi, who were his pride and joy.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Lisa Cobb of Big Spring; two daughters, Danielle Johnson of Brownwood, and Kyla Tomlinson of Big Spring; two grandsons, Carl Lee Tomlinson III and Levi Reed, both of Big Spring; four sisters, Shanna Cobb Roberts-Taylor and husband Scott of Big Spring, Lara Cobb Stubbs and husband Wesley of Fabens, Melanie Cobb Glidwell and husband Shannon of Plano, Katie Cobb Lee and husband Richard of Wylie, and Michael Cobb and wife Amye of San Angelo; one sister-in-law, Tammy Newton and husband Brent of Big Spring; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirlie and Ken Cobb Sr.; his mother-in-law, Shirlie Johnson; his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at Myers & Smith Funeral Home in Big Spring, Texas. Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Myers & Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Coahoma Cemetery.
