Born on March 26, 1949, in Chihuahua, Mexico, Jesse was the beloved son of Francisco Cantu and Ana Barrios DeCantu. He made his home in Big Spring, Texas, in 1984, where he embraced the community and became an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, as well as Sacred Heart of Jesus during his time in Mexico. He worked as a seismographer for Dawson Geophysical and other companies for the majority of his life until he eventually retired from Tideland Geophysical Company in 2015.
Jesse had a zest for life that inspired those around him. He cherished his family deeply and found joy in the simple pleasures, whether it was savoring a delicious meal or strolling through local shops to connect with friends. A devoted cinephile, he particularly loved watching movies, like "Enter the Dragon" holding a special place in his heart, alongside his admiration for iconic actors Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris. Additionally, the trips he took to Mexico to visit family were a source of great joy and fulfillment for him.
He is survived by his children: Jesus A. Cantu (Enedina), Blanca Flores, Ana Matta, Cody Cantu (Lisa), Irene Cantu Richardson (Michael), Francisco Cantu, Paco Cantu & Ana Cantu Garcia; grandchildren: Jesse Cantu, Jr., Dominic Cantu, Braylee Cantu, Laikyn Cantu, Ryan Cantu, Lil Cody Cantu, Kenny Richardson, Kristian Richardson, Kameron Richardson, Dylan Cantu, Remzy Cantu; siblings, Berta Tavarez, Hector Gonzalez; multiple great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews: Pancho Martinez, Lupe Bustamante, Abel Bustamante, Manuel Bustamante, Ana Cantu, Jose Cantu & Domenica Cantu; as well as numerous other family members.
He was preceded by his parents; sister, Lupe Cantu; daughter, Maria DeJesus Cantu; son, Edgar Cantu; and grandson, Austin Cantu.
Pallbearers will be: T.J. Aguilar, Jesse Cantu, Dominic Cantu, Kenny Richardson, Kristian Richardson, Fernando Cantu, Alex Padilla, and Dylan Cantu. Honorary pallbearers will be: Kameron Richardson, Ryan Cantu, Lil Cody Cantu.
