Jessie was a talented carpenter whose craftsmanship brought beauty and utility to countless homes. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and his unwavering commitment to his work, he dedicated his life to creating structures that stood the test of time. Beyond his professional life, he was a beloved figure within the community, known for his warmth and generosity.
A true Floridian at heart, Jessie found immense joy in the great outdoors, particularly in fishing. Whether casting lines in local waters or teaching friends and family the best techniques, his love for nature was boundless. He also possessed a culinary flair, famously cooking the best swamp cabbage and hush puppies in Taylor County, a talent that gathered friends and loved ones around his table for many cherished meals and joyful gatherings.
Jessie is survived by his beloved partner, Crystal Corson; his children, Christopher and Savannah (Levi); his step-children, Christina Carlton and Victoria Corson; his three sisters, Rosie Whiddon-Hicks, Eva (Bryant) Akins, and Carrie Akins; his brother, James Whiddon; his grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will carry his memory forward in her heart. His absence will be deeply felt by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jessie was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Whiddon and Eva Whiddon; his brothers, N.L., John R., Richard "Slick", and Ben "Bones"; and his dogs, Ladybug and Vern.
As we reflect on Jessie's legacy, we find comfort in the memories we shared and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. May he rest in peace, embraced by the love he shared with all of us.
Jessie's memorial services will held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at the Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Perry, FL at 11:00AM with Pastor Jerry Whitt officiating.
All arrangements are under the care of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
