Mrs. Jewel Castor, of the Grant Community died peacefully at 3:03 a.m. Saturday morning September 6, 2025 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville at the age of 65. She had been admitted September 5th suffering from complications from a stroke.
The Illinois native was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and is being cremated at the Cumberland Family Services in Algood.
The family will hold memorial services at a later date in her native Illinois.
She was born Jewel Ann Milburn in Centralia on April 5, 1960 and was the daughter of the late George Richard Milburn who died at the age of 73 on January 15, 2009 and Mary Delores McCann Milburn who died at the age of 71 on September 18, 2001.
Mrs. Castor was a 1978 graduate of Centralia High School.
On December 29, 1982, she was united in marriage to Martin J. Castor. Together they shared nearly forty-three years of marriage.
Mrs. Castor was a woman of faith a member of the Catholic church.
Before marriage, Mrs. Castor served our country with two tours of military duty with the United States Army.
She was first inducted in Centralia on July 27, 1979 and was honorably discharged at Fort Sam Houston, Texas on February 23, 1980 with the rank of Private 2nd class.
She re-enlisted on October 2, 1980 at St. Louis, Missouri and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private 1st class at Fort Dix, New Jersey having earned an M-16 Rifle badge.
Mrs. Castor served six months and seventeen days overseas with the Pacific Motor Transport Operation Division.
Mrs. Castor worked as a cashier with Wal-Mart in Lebanon for twenty-two years at the Lebanon, Tennessee location before her retirement.
Surviving in addition to her husband Martin Sr.; are three children, Derrick Milburn of Fort Benning, Georgia, Theresa Castor of Gordonsville, Martin Castor II also of Gordonsville; brother, George Milburn Jr. of LaVergne, TN and five grandchildren.
