Jewel Virginia Mills Armstrong

Born on October 28, 1938, Jewel Virginia Mills Armstrong of Lindale, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, surrounded by family. Born and raised in Lindale, she lived her life with grit, resilience, and a spirit that was unapologetically her own.
Daughter of the late Homer and Addie Mills, Jewel was known for being outspoken, strong-willed, and often unfiltered. She wasn't one to sugarcoat her words or hold back her opinions, and you always knew where you stood with her. While she could be tough to get close to, she was part of a generation that valued hard work and loyalty.
A member of Eden Valley Baptist Church, Jewel remained rooted in her Baptist faith throughout her life. One thing no one could deny: she was an excellent cook. Her meals were hearty, comforting, and made from scratch-whether it was Sunday dinner, holiday spreads, or just a pot of something warm on the stove. She also took pride in keeping a spotless home, where everything had its place and nothing stayed out of order for long.
Jewel is survived by her children Kathy Pope (Ricky), Wayne Armstrong, and Brenda Jones (Lonnie); her sister and best friend, Myrtice Busby; sister-in-law, Barbara Jo Crane; daughters-in-law, Tina Armstrong and Eva Armstrong; as well as a large extended family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great granddaughters, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Amos Armstrong and sons Kenneth R. Armstrong, Charles "Cecil" Armstrong, Hubert Armstrong, a granddaughter Brandy Tucker.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Floyd Memory Gardens. Rev. Scotty Rampley will officiate the service.
The family will receive friends from 11am until 1pm on Monday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.
Pallbearers are to assemble by 12:30pm on Monday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, and include: Randall Barnett, Lamar Jones, Bobby Tucker, Bryan Armstrong, Corey Armstrong, Will Lay and Clay Lay.
