Jill Thomforde, a courageous beacon of love and resilience, passed away on October 3, 2025. Born as Jill Christine Gerwig on May 14, 1979, in Morton, Washington, she spent her life instilling love and knowledge in the hearts of many. Jill, affectionately known as Jilly by her close ones, was a loving mom, an amazing wife, and a generous soul whose life was a testament to loyalty and love.
Jill was an established figure in the Yelm community, where she resided for 9 years, and was well-recognized for her 19 years of dedicated service as an educator in public schools. A lover of nature, she planted flowers every spring, creating a garden that mirrored her own beauty and vibrancy. Her most cherished times were those spent camping with family and friends, where her infectious laughter and warm personality radiated. The heart of Jill was a vast expanse of love, with her family at the core. Her greatest achievement, she often said, was motherhood. She nurtured her children with such devotion and love that they became her most profound legacy.
Jill leaves behind a constellation of loved ones who were blessed to share in her journey. She is survived by her husband, Kiert Thomforde, her sons, Kaleb and Logan Thomforde, her father, James Gerwig, her mother, Deborah Christian, her sister, Jamie Hill, and her sisters-in-law, Stephanie Thomforde and Melissa Thomforde. Each of them carry an aspect of Jill's spirit and will continue to honor her memory through their lives.
In the words of Maya Angelou, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Jill Thomforde embodied this sentiment, touching countless lives with her kindness and generosity. Her courage and unwavering loyalty will forever be etched in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her.
