We celebrate the life of Eloise May Boyer, born on November 2, 1918, in Norridgewock, Maine, who passed peacefully in her sleep on October 17, 2025. A resilient soul and an eternal optimist, Eloise was a beacon of positivity who rarely complained about anything. Her infectious spirit and love for life were evident in her every action, and she touched the lives of many throughout her 106 years.
Eloise was a compassionate woman who dedicated her life to fostering the growth and development of young minds. After graduating from Pacific Lutheran University, she embarked on a rewarding career as a school teacher in the Bethel School District. Eloise had an enduring passion for education and instilled a love of learning in her kindergarten, first and second grade students until her retirement in the early 1980's. Outside of the classroom, Eloise was a vibrant participant in her community. She actively served in the Eastern Star community service organization since the 1960s, The Grange, and the 4H Club.
She and her first husband, Floyd Corbin, raised two sons, Bob (Floyd) and Douglas, and daughter Judy. After the children were grown, they divorced and some years later Eloise met Wilmer Boyer, the love of her life. The two of them enjoyed winters in Yuma, Arizona, and traveling with a group of friends.
Eloise lived a rich and fulfilling life, marked by her love for nature and her adventuresome spirit. After turning 100 years old, she went on an Alaskan cruise and while in Juno took her first helicopter ride. "In my next life, I want to be a helicopter pilot," she told her niece. She cherished her time outside in the sunshine, especially when she had a little dog by her side. Her hobbies were as colourful as her spirit. Until her eyesight began to fail, Eloise was an avid Pinochle player, a lover of romance novels, and a skilled doll maker, even winning a blue ribbon at the fair for her 3-foot dolls.
Her life was a long and fascinating journey, from her birth in Maine, to her childhood in Virginia and traveling cross-country with her family during the Great Depression, then eventually settling in Pierce County, Washington. She carried the wisdom of her travels and experiences with her and shared them generously with those who knew and loved her.
Eloise is survived by her son Douglas Corbin along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and Boyer and Megiveron extended family members. She is preceded in death by her father Walmsley Beckim, her mother Helen Beckim, husband Wilmer Boyer, son Bob (Floyd) and daughter Judy. She will be remembered as a ray of sunshine in the lives of most people she met.
As we bid farewell to Eloise, we invite you to share your memories and upload photos of her on the memorial page. Let us celebrate her remarkable life and the indelible impact she has left on our hearts. Donations can be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
