James "Jim" Russell Adams, 74, of
Grayson, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Carter Nursing and Rehab Center. Born on April 24, 1951, in Ashland, Kentucky, Jim was the beloved son of the late Leonard "Sonny" and Lucille McDavid Adams. He was preceded in death by his cherished brother, William Raymond Adams.
Jim worked as a laborer out of the Charleston, West Virginia Local, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his craft. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in his faith and community. Jim was a devoted member of his church at Carter Nursing, where he loved to sing and share his spirit with others.
A passionate sports fan, Jim was an avid supporter of UK Basketball, often cheering for his team with enthusiasm. He also enjoyed watching classic westerns, deer hunting and reminiscing about his younger days playing softball, where he earned the affectionate nickname "Big Jim." His love for big semi-trucks and the open road reflected his adventurous spirit and desire for freedom.
Despite the challenges he faced in his later years, Jim's determination to maintain his independence was a testament to his strength and resilience. He is survived by his son, Joseph (Brandie) Adams of Grayson, and a legacy of love through his eight grandchildren: Joseph Adams, Jr., Sierra Madison Adams, Justin Cole (Olivia) Adams, Hunter Bisbee, Jesse Adams, Deana Chambers, Jake "Sonny" Adams, and James Lanz. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Chase Madison, Aria Lasiter, Ryker Adams, Jamieson Adams, and Tate Adams. Jim is further survived by his two brothers, Jerry (Bernice) Adams and Jody Sr. (Debbie) Adams, both of Grayson, along with many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and extended family who will deeply miss him.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Carter Nursing and Rehab for their exceptional care and loving comfort during Jim's time there.
