James "Jim" Martin Hammond, 86, of Edgewood, KY passed away peacefully on Monday, September 18, 2023 surrounded by his family. Jim was born February 2, 1937 in Cincinnati, OH to the late John and Elizabeth Hammond. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. Following his time in the service, Jim became a business analyst and worked for Mead Paper Company and served in the industry for 40 plus years. Jim was a dedicated father and husband. In retirement, he enjoyed visiting with his kids and grandkids. While at home Jim enjoyed making repairs and improvements around the house and playing golf with life long friends. He and his wife were members of St. Pius X Church in Edgewood, KY. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Arlene Hammond, his beloved children: Michelle Storgion (Steve), Kimberley Scharstein (Ken), Michael Hammond (Mary Beth Paris), and Kathleen Mahdasian, his cherished grandchildren: John, James, and Frances Storgion, Jack, Emma, Annie and Olivia Scharstein, Gabrielle Hammond, and Sosi, Sevan, and Ani Mahdasian and their father, Sark, his dear sisters: Myrna Ward and Martha O'Neal, and numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends. A visitation will be held for Jim on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at St. Pius X Church, 348 Dudley Rd., Edgewood, KY 41017. Mass of Christian Burial will be held immediately following at 10:30 AM at the Church. Jim will be laid to rest following the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Pius X Church at the address listed above or to the Alzheimer's Association at 644 Linn Street, Suite 1026, Cincinnati, OH 45203.
