2/12/45 – 9/5/23
Ray was born and grew up in Ft. Mitchell, married his best friend, and raised four children. He worked with his father in the family produce business, graduated from Thomas More College, and then started his own construction company.
Ray loved his family, camping and boating at Cave Run Lake, fishing, playing cards, watching the Reds, Bengals, NASCAR, and being around his grandchildren. He never met a stranger.
He is preceded in death by his parents, August and Rose Matracia, and brother Mike. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara (Suttmiller), children Gina (Kevin) Briney, Eric (Kate) Matracia, Matt (Ashley) Matracia, and Nick (Beth) Matracia. His four grandchildren Emma, Jack, Austin and Bailee. Brother-in-law, Jim Kolp, and sister-in-law, Joyce Matracia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 10:00am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Ft. Mitchell. A celebration of life will immediately follow in the undercroft at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. My uncle taught me to ride a motorcycle when I was 14 years old. He let me ride up a small dirt hill and I almost fell off while my grandmother watched in horror. Ray was laughing hysterically because it really was funny and I had a great time.
