James “Jim” Wayne Hoblyn was born October 31, 1948, in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Ray and Delpha (Madsen) Hoblyn, also known as the Halloween baby. He attended Harris Country School through 8th grade. After that, he went to high school in Ansley, Nebraska. Upon the completion of graduation, he attended computer school in Denver, Colorado and Kearney State College. After college, Jim returned to Ansley to farm and raise cattle.

Jim married the love of his life, Pat Helberg on August 20, 1972. Two daughters were born to this union, Kelli and Katie. Jim has two grandchildren: Morgan and Marty Bauder. He called them the M&M kids.

Jim was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ansley, and he served on the Algernon Township Board.

Jim loved the land and his cattle. He liked to farm, especially the smell of freshly tilled earth in the spring and seeing the new corn coming up. He liked to check cows, taking salt out and checking water for the cattle. He loved seeing those newborn calves in the spring. Jim could visit with anyone. You could find him leaning over a pickup box or leaning on a tractor tire visiting with a neighbor. He liked the rural life – a life well lived.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Delpha Hoblyn, his in-laws Stan and Donna Helberg, and his brother, Bob Hoblyn.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Pat of Ansley, NE, daughter, Kelli (Ryan) Bauder of Scotland, SD, Katie Hoblyn of Ansley, NE, grandkids, Morgan and Marty Bauder of Scotland, SD, sisters Dianne (Art) Anderson of Broken Bow, NE, Dee (Mike) Krantz of Ansley, NE, brother-in-law Vaughn (Karen) Helberg of Lincoln, NE, sisters-in-law, Nancy Hoblyn of York, NE, Nancy (Larry) Miller of Lemoyne, NE, Diane (Ken) Mahoney of Denver, CO and many nieces and nephews.
