Jim Hoch Obituary

Jim Hoch, age 89, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025.

Cherished husband of nearly 66 years of Marianne (nee Saleker); devoted father of James A. (Maureen), Cathy Plewacki (Ken) and John (Irene); beloved grandfather of Cory (Patsy), Chelsea Sadinski (Bob), Johnny, Alyssa Plewacki, and Jaret (Rachel); loving great-grandfather of seven; dearest brother of Jackie Natt (Don, deceased); and dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Laddie and Helen (nee Roskavich) Hoch.

Jim was a hard worker, having spent 20 years as a truck driver, then many more as a supervisor for various grocery stores including the A & P, Tops and Finast. He was also an owner and operator of the historic Brown's Lanes for 28 years and served in the United States Naval Reserves.

Though a man who worked hard, Jim also knew how to enjoy life! The water held a special kind of magic to him. Whether it was fishing in Canada with his sons and grandsons or the families' annual trips to Myrtle Beach to spend time by the ocean, the lapping of the water upon the shore always called him back.

Hanging out with his buddies at the Red Circle became important to him too over the years, but a glass of bourbon and a good cigar in the comfort of his own home was his favorite way to relax and enjoy life! He was a die-hard fan of the Cleveland Indians, as well as the "Duke", John Wayne.

What mattered most to Jim, however, was his wife and family! He was devoted to them and reveled in each new addition. As his health began to fail, it wasn't his personal interests he missed the most, but rather being able to be as active and involved in his families' lives as he wanted and had always been, for it was that aspect of his life that he treasured the most!

While he was an active and vibrant man and is described as a straight shooter and all around nice guy, he will be remembered most for the love with which he showered Marianne, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the life and legacy of dedication to family that defined him!

Memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to the Parma Animal Shelter, 6270 State Rd., Parma, OH 44134 or online at https://parmashelter.org/ways-to-help/donate/.
