Jim “Firecracker” Nodine, 84, of Roebuck, SC passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024. He was born in Spartanburg on June 7, 1940 to the late Grady William and Corinne Parsons Nodine.

A veteran of the United States Air Force, Jim was a diesel mechanic. This training and his love of traveling led him to become a truck driver. He worked for Overnight Trucking, Winn-Dixie, and retired from Estes Express Lines.

Jim was a simple man, but passionate. He was an avid birdwatcher and loved sitting on his porch swings, watching the neighborhood. He also loved Westerns, gospel music, and caring for his yard. Most of all, Jim loved his family. He cared deeply for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Vicky Nodine Hann (Hector) and James Nodine (Roslyn) all of Newfoundland, Canada, Lynn Nodine Sanders of Woodruff, SC, April Nodine Williams of Gaffney, SC, Chad Ryan Nodine (Chelsea) of Oregon, Eddie Pierson (Tammy) of Roebuck, and Kimberly Pierson Waddell (Robby) of Roebuck; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret L. Nodine; grandson, Bradley Keith Nelson; and chihuahua, Tinkerbell.

To abide by his wishes, no services will be held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to honor Jim may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, care of Spartanburg Regional Foundation, PO Box 2624, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
