It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James Martin "Jim" Muldowney, aged 82, who left this world on August 2, 2025, in Saint Augustine, Florida. Born on April 5, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, Jim grew up in New Jersey, where he developed a strong foundation that would carry him through life's journey. A proud 1960 graduate of Don Bosco High School, Jim continued his education at the Catholic University of America before earning a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Seton Hall University. His professional career began at International Nickel, but it was at American Express where he truly flourished. Starting as an auditor, Jim's dedication and expertise propelled him through the ranks, ultimately serving as Vice President in the travel division, where he was known for his integrity and insight. In his personal life, Jim found his greatest joy in the love shared with his wife, Mary Muldowney. They met during an awards trip hosted by Jim and American Express in Kona, Hawaii. A long-distance courtship later blossomed into a beautiful marriage on April 21, 1990. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Jim's journey brought him to Saint Augustine in 2003, where he resided until his passing. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many rounds of golf with his friends at the St. Augustine Shores Golf Club In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, Martin Muldowney. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; his son, Patrick Muldowney; daughters, Marguerite Muldowney and Amy Cucci, both of New Jersey, step sons, Patrick Parke and his wife Dawn of St Augustine and Sean Parke of Delray Beach, Fl. He was affectionately known as "Pop Pop" to his 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and a strong sense of family. In accordance with Jim's wishes, he will be cremated, and his cremated remains will be interred in his family's plots in New Jersey. As we reflect on the life of James Martin Muldowney, we remember him as a dedicated professional, a loving husband, a proud father, and a cherished friend. He will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
