JAMES O HANSON, James O.
2/17/1935 – 8/17/2021
Jim was born Feb 17, 1935, in Cooperstown, North Dakota to Obert and Cora Mae Hanson. He was preceded in death of his sisters Evelyn Couch and Tootie Plumb; and his wife of 25 years, Audrey Hanson. Jim is survived by the mother of his children, and wife of 23 years Fern Hanson; and his four beautiful daughters, Sherri Hall (Gresham, OR), Cindy & Fred Guinn (Spokane Valley), Teresa Hanson & partner Rock Nelson (Spokane Valley), and Stacie Haney (Spokane Valley); nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; various nieces, nephews and cousins he stayed close with.
Jim and family came to make their home in Spokane when Jim was 4 years old. His parents later resided at Liberty Lake where Jim grew up and later made Liberty Lake his home as well.
Jim graduated from Central Valley High School in 1953 and was the MC at his 50 year reunion.
Jim started working for Kaiser Aluminum Trentwood when he was only 18 years old and retired after 35 years.
Jim was proud of his Norwegian heritage belonging to the Sons of Norway.
Jim had an exceptional talent for gardening, creating beautiful, eye-catching displays of Japanese gardens that lit up the neighborhood and brought a little piece of heaven on earth; often planting a tree or shrub for loved ones.
Jim had a love for sports, participating in bowling leagues and golfing for most of his life. He loved the Gonzaga Bulldogs! Rarely missing a game.
Jim's biggest passion in life was being a classic car collector, belonging to the Duke's car club of Spokane and buying and selling many beautiful cars he cherished. He participated in the Valley Fest parade and many local car shows throughout the years. Jim had over 300 model cars he collected proudly displayed in his home.
Jim had a passion for living. He was a kind, sweet and caring person that attracted many. He was a dedicated regular at certain establishments enjoying a drink and good conversation with many friends in the Valley.
Jim will be greatly missed by many. His memory will carry on through memorabilia he has collected and donated to the Valley Eagles and car shows throughout the Spokane area.
"Gone but never forgotten"
A celebration of life will be held at the Eagles Lodge in the Spokane Valley on September 11, 2021, from 1:00 to 3:30 pm.
