Jim Ritter, 70, of Flaherty, KY, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Baptist Health Hardin, Elizabethtown, KY.
Mr. Ritter was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Jim's true passions, however, lay in his artistic pursuits. He was a talented musician, he could often be found with his guitar in hand, filling the room with rhythm. His musical talents were a source of great joy not only to him but also to those who had the pleasure of listening. For many years he played bass in the Brian Young Band. In addition to music, Jim was an avid painter and he also enjoyed cooking. Perhaps most notably, Jim was the quintessential handyman. There was no task too small or challenge too great for him to tackle.
He was predeceased by his parents, Elzie Allen & Mary Elizabeth Short Ritter; one brother, Garry Ritter; and two sisters, Veronica Ritter and Joan Bishop.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Gloria Ritter; two daughters, Courtney Collins (Tom), Jaime Thomas (Chris); seven grandchildren, Christian, Alison, Jessica, Sebastian, Adele, Leah, Tyler; three great grandchildren, Cillian, Gabriel, Skylar; one sister, Rosie Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Sunday, July 7, 2024 and from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Monday, July 8, 2024 at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.
Funeral services for Mr. Ritter will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 8, 2024 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY with Pastor Brian Voelker officiating.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 12:30 PM, July 11, 2024 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
