Jimmie (Jim) Walters was born on October 17, 1932 in Parhams, Louisiana to the late Julian and Carie Walters. He enjoyed a fulfilling career with Penrod Drilling and Placid Oil Co. where he worked for 35 years, ultimately reaching the position of Drilling Superintendent of Operations. Jim was highly respected by everyone he encountered during his long career in the oilfield and was a trusted mentor to countless colleagues. Throughout his extensive career, Jim had the opportunity to travel and proudly represented his company all over the world, including Greece, the Netherlands, Norway, England, Sweden, Denmark and many other countries. He was a consummate professional, diligent worker, and loved his colleagues and clients with his whole heart.

Jim married Frieda B. Swope on October 22, 1999. He was a model husband to his wife of 24 years, who loved him deeply. He taught us all what it means to be a caring and devoted spouse. Jim was a beloved husband, father figure and grandfather and was as kind and gentlemanly to his family as he was in public life. Most of all Jim Walters was the ultimate life enhancer who touched every single person he met, and will be missed dearly. He made it his life's mission to make others feel special, and he accomplished it thousands of times over. He was a great listener and story teller. He taught us all how to love and appreciate others, and we hope that we can all live more like Jim Walters did.

Pallbearers include Kirk Walters, Chuck Walters, Brett Walters, Ronn Walters, Eddie Coolman, and Claude Swope. Honorary pallbearer is John Swope.
