Obituary published on Legacy.com by Campagna Funeral Home - Okawville on Feb. 11, 2025.
JIMMY LEE BAUM
Mr. Jimmy Baum of Okawville, IL departed this life at his residence on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 1:55 A.M. surrounded by his family following a courageous fight against cancer. He had attained the age of 77 years, 5 months, and 13 days.
Jimmy was born in East St. Louis, IL on August 27, 1947, the son of Bernard and Helen (nee Sloat) Baum. He was united in marriage to Arlene Schaefer in East St. Louis on May 20, 1966, and she survives his passing.
Mr. Baum was a truck driver. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling. He was known as a "collector of everything," and it was quite the collection. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Arlene of Okawville; two children, Candice Rice of Belleville, IL and Duane Baum of Okawville; four grandchildren, Jessica Nandi of Provo, UT, Caitlin Rice of St. Louis, MO, Ashley Baum of St. Louis, and Joshua Baum of New Baden, IL; a brother, William Baum of Collinsville, IL; two sisters, Elsie McCartney and husband Robert of Collinsville, and Sandy Stevens and husband Dennis of KY; several nieces and nephews as well as friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Baum.
Private graveside services will be held at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fairview Heights, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home, who are assisting the family with arrangements.
