Elder Jimmy Lee "One L" Denegal

Elder Jimmy Lee Denegal (One "L") was born to Rev. Eugene A. Denegal and Josephine Slay Denegal in small town Odum, Georgia on April 3, 1948. He was the 2nd youngest of six children – Bertha (Mick), John, Frank, Gene, and Bobby.

While at Savannah State College, he played football and was part of the Glee Club. Once he graduated with his B.A. in Sociology, he moved to Brooklyn where he was a part of Manpower and an integral part of the Fort Greene Community's transformation. Legend has it that he was recruited by the NY Jets…urban legend. During this time, he married his first wife, Elaine Walker who had four daughters and they had one child together – Andrea. In 1980, through Manpower and Community Service, Jimmy was appointed to manage Albee Square Mall which revitalized downtown Brooklyn and ushered it into its "golden era".

In the late '80s, Jimmy joined Greater Bibleway Temple in Brooklyn and gave his life to Christ. In the early 90s, he married Wanda Casey who has two sons. During this time, he became a "megaphone" for the Lord and was elevated to Elder.

Elder loved to travel and always tried to include all of the grandchildren as well as all of his family members. He believed in fellowship and was very close to his nieces and nephews. He spent his "golden years" in McDonough, Georgia working for Goya while continuing to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Elder Jimmy Denegal went home to be with the Lord on September 8, 2025. He has now joined his parents and all of his siblings which he often reminisced about – and nephew Rondell who kept a smile on all of our faces.

He is survived by his spouse, Wanda; as well as his daughter, Andrea and her children, Asyiah, Danielle (Kennedy – daughter), Jadyn; bonus son, Robert; bonus daughter, Jasmine (Naomi and Leilani-daughters); stepsons, Eric and his five children and Chris and his three children; four bonus daughter: Patsy, Louise, Aletha and Gina; Nieces: Marva, Angela, Tanja, Krista, Marlo, Jennifer, Pamela, DaKia, Shavonna; nephews, Randall, Mark, Philip, James, James, Alex, Christopher, Gary and Brian. Special shoutout to the great and great- great nieces and nephews: LaKisha, Yolonda, Krys and Chris, Chenia, Devaughn, Darrien, Damien, Jamiya, Nubia, Kenya, Erika, Mark, Amir, Shahra, Alexus, Ron, Josh, Jace – not all are named but all are loved.

A viewing will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 12 noon until 4pm at Royal Funeral Home Chapel.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 @ 1:00 pm at Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery, 1580 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, Ga. 31545.
