James "Jimmy" Alexander Haynes, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. A man of integrity, service, and quiet strength, he touched many lives with his kindness, humility, and sense of humor. Born in Newnan, GA, on April 19, 1949, Jimmy developed a deep sense of duty and dedication early in life, which led him to a distinguished career in the United States Air Force. He rose to the rank of Captain and served his country honorably during Desert Storm, carrying with him a deep pride in his service and a lifelong bond with fellow veterans. Jimmy truly loved being home in Moreland, where he served as the Town Clerk and was deeply involved in the Moreland BBQ. Jimmy was an active member of Moreland Methodist Church, where his faith and fellowship enriched the lives of those around him. An old soul at heart, he had a great love for classic western movies, often found rewatching his favorites with a smile. Wednesday nights were a special joy, spent with friends at trivia night on the Leaping Lizard team, where his encyclopedic knowledge and competitive spirit always shone through. Jimmy had a great love for historical arts, being involved in the Moreland Cultural Arts Alliance, Moreland Historical Art Society, Erskine Caldwell Museum, and the Lewis Grizzard Museum. Above all, Jimmy was a loyal and loving presence-a devoted son, a protective brother, and a steadfast friend. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. The graveside service celebrating Jimmy's life is Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Southview Cemetery in Moreland, with Rev. Winston Skinner officiating. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.mckoon.com. Jimmy is survived by his brother, Bill Haynes and his wife Bonnie, of Moreland, sister, Betty Chase and husband Richard, of Oglethorpe, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
