Mr. Jimmy P. Myerholtz, 76, of Hartwell, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the AnMed Medical Center in Anderson, SC.
Born on November 8, 1947 in Royston, GA, he was the son of the late Callie A. Myerholtz and Helen Byrum Myerholtz. Mr. Myerholtz was a devout Christian and a member of the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. He served as a deacon for several churches, taught Sunday School, and he loved teaching his Bible study. He was also the CFO for We Have a Hope Christian Ministries. Jimmy was the owner and operator for Landway Builders, Inc., and served in the US Army as a medic during the Vietnam War.
Jimmy was very active in Optimist International where he served as the Governor of the GA District from 1990-1991, and was inducted into the GA District Optimist International Hall of Fame in 1997. He also coached for many years at the Hart County Rec. Department, and was named the Hart County Father of the Year in 1981. Jimmy wrote articles for the Hartwell Sun, and had a local devotional on WKLY.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years: Joyce Brown Myerholtz of the home; two children: Michele Buchanan (David) and Grant Myerholtz (Kristi), all of Hartwell; sister: Paulette Crouch of Hartwell; four grandchildren: Mason Buchanan, Canaan Myerholtz, LilyAnn Myerholtz, and Cheri Buchanan; one great-grandchild: Troy Buchanan; and three special friends: Lee Brinson, Larry Bailey, and Dr. Sreeroop Sen.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.
Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Myerholtz will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Grant Myerholtz officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Rev. Tony Franks officiating.
Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made to We Have a Hope Christian Ministries, P.O. Box 612, Hartwell, GA 30643.
