A native of Calypso, he graduated from North Duplin High School. He had been a farmer and had been employed with Carolina Power and Light Company as a metal fabricator and welder.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Carter Dixon Turner; a daughter, Love Turner; his parents, J. R. Turner and Louise Faircloth Turner; and a sister, Teresa Turner.
Survivors include his son, Brent R. Turner and wife, Brittany, of Deep Run, and their children and his grandchildren, Bexley and Rhett; a brother, Gene Turner and wife, Brenda, of Rocky Mount; and a sister, Judy Elaine Grimes of Suttontown area, Faison.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 29, at 2 p.m. in the Tyndall Funeral Chapel in Mount Olive, and will be officiated by the Rev. John Morton. Burial will follow in the Calypso Cemetery. There will be visitation at the funeral home during the hour before the service.
