Jo Ellen Anderson passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, surrounded by her husband of 46 years, Jeff, and son, Jeffrey, Jr.
Jo was born on August 23, 1956, in the District of Columbia. She was the fifth of six children of Thomas and Patricia Detig. Jo loved growing up in a large family and spending time with her older brothers and younger sister. She would often tell stories of her mother raising their large family, their dog, Duke, and learning to play cards, especially poker, with her siblings.
Jo retired as a childcare director at The Children's Center, in Damascus, MD after over 30 years of service. She loved connecting with parents and giving back to the community. Jo touched the lives of many children and helped to shape them into the successful adults they are today.
Jo was a wonderful mother to Jeffrey Jr. and took extra pride in being Ace's grandmother. She was truly happiest when she was with her grandson. She loved to spend time with family and called to check in on them often. She also loved animals, especially dogs, who are undoubtedly waiting for her in heaven. Jo Ellen is survived by her five siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA., 1212 W. old Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School).
