Joakim Stratos Doukas, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Biloxi VA Medical Center. Born on November 14, 1932, in Mobile, Alabama, Joakim lived a life dedicated to service, family, and community.
Joakim had a distinguished career managing numerous properties, showcasing his strong work ethic and dedication to his profession. He also served his country honorably as a Retired Gunnery Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he received numerous military honors and awards, reflecting his commitment and bravery.
In addition to his professional achievements, Joakim was known for his warm personality and his love of gathering around the kitchen. He enjoyed cooking for his family, creating memories that would last a lifetime. He also had a passion for golf and running, pursuits that brought him joy and fulfillment.
Joakim is survived by his sons, Jack Doukas and Jeff Doukas; his brother, John M. Doukas; his grandsons, Jason Doukas and Jared Doukas; and his great-grandson, Daryl Doukas. These family members will carry forward his legacy of love and resilience.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Joakim Stratos Doukas; his sons, Albert and Jared Doukas; his brothers, Henry Smith and Steve L. Doukas; and Sherry Inel Skinner, the mother of his four sons.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, Mississippi. A Prayer Service will be held at 2:00 PM. Joakim will then be laid to rest with a Graveside Service at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport.
Joakim's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His contributions to both his family and his community will be cherished by all. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of South Mississippi.
