Joan Ayres Obituary
Joann was born June 23, 1941 in Rockwell City to Glen and Ruth (Long) O'Neall. She was a graduate of Havelock High School in 1959. Joann worked with special needs kids in Davenport and then at ChildServe in Johnston until her retirement. She was recognized by Governor Branstad as the Iowa Caregiver of the year in 1998. Joann enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Scott (Debra) Ayres of Johnston, Gina (Gordon) Conrad of Colfax, Neal Ayres of South Carolina, Jennifer (Dennis) Sheppard of South Carolina; grandchildren: Scott's- Justine, Brennan, Jonah, Shane; Gina's- Henrik, Danni, Pernille, Megan, Ben, Rebecca; Jennifer's- Katherine, Victoria, Murray; Neal's- Annie, Ryan, Alexis, Drew; 14 great grandchildren; siblings: Lois Speer, Betty Hauswirth, Mary Martens, Bill O'Neall, and Jon O'Neall.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Jennifer Ayres.
