Joan Marie Boquist was born on April 15, 1933, to John and Thecla Rutkowski in Chicago and ascended to Heaven on Sunday July 13, 2025.
Joan is survived by her brother, Arnold (Jan). She was the beloved mother of Kathie (the late Nick) Michael (Patti), Daniel (Sandy) Ellen (Greg), Lori (deceased) (Rick)
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Thecla; and husband, Louis; brothers, Jack and Don, and sister Elaine
She was the proud Grandmother of Steven (Holli), Ben, Jaquelyn (Matt), Elissa (Richie), Tony (Kali) Kevin (Noey), Jessica (Chris) Ryan and Justin (Brooke); and a favorite Auntie to many and a friend to all.
In years past she was an active member of St. Francis Church, the Lake Zurich American Legion and the lake Zurich Lions Club. For several years she was the proud owner and florist of Wedding And Party Flowers in Lake Zurich and celebrated many weddings with her Brides. Joan cherished spending time with her family and friends and never passed up a chance to throw a few dollars into a slot machine after her weekly shopping and lunch outing. She was a voracious reader and a lifelong Cubs and Bears fan. Her prayers have been felt by family and friends everywhere for years and now she will look over everyone from the heavens for eternity.
The family would like to thank the staff at JourneyCare Hospice for the loving care they gave her in the last few weeks of her life
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s’s Children’s Research Hospital in Joan’s name.
