Age 77, of Gainesville, passed away on August 7, 2024 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw.
She was born on October 20, 1946 in Warsaw, NY to the late Robert and Florence Fauth Shearing. Joan worked as a dispatcher for the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department for 34 years. She was also part of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Mounted Unit for many years. Joan was a member of the Letchworth New Life Fellowship Church.
Joan and her husband, Skip owned horses for 40 years and enjoyed trail riding. They also enjoyed riding motorcycles with family and friends. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. Joan loved her dogs.
Along with her parents, Joan is predeceased by her brother, Charles and sisters-in-law, Charlotte and Barbara.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Skip Buchwald; children, Steven (Jeanne) Buchwald, James (Deborah) Buchwald, Sean (Jennie) Buchwald; brother, John (Catherine) Shearing; brother-in-law, Paul; sister-in-law, Joni; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday, August 13th from 11am to 1pm at the Letchworth New Life Fellowship Church, 2 North Main St., Silver Springs where Joan’s funeral service will be held immediately following at 1pm. Burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery in Gainesville.
